More of the same from AdvancedAccess.com
It has been a very rocky ride for over a year. My appologies to those of you who cannot access my site or the QuickHomes MLS search. I am currently working on a new and improved version of my site- hosted on a different server in addition, a new? Mulitiple Listings? search provider.
Some background on the advancedaccess nightmare; The AA sites have been penalized due to an inner agent linking strategy that AA endorsed. Yahoo! caught wind and well…my advanced access site, DarlaVanderlip.com real estate website is simply not found in Y! results. For a more indepth look at the reciprocal linking nightmare at advancedaccess.com. Visit Ken Smith at WebNewsForUs.com. I had a few agent to agent links,? with Realtors in other market areas however some sites had more than a few thousand, mighty spammy alright.? This pains me as 90% of my business is obtained through the web.
All AA sites are on the same IP address; with the exception of say about 3 or 4 thousand-otherwise its? 28,00 of us? which poses a huge problem in matters of seo. AA has the penalty and as a result, all sites are zapped! Once an IP is under a penalty at Yahoo! its downright impossible to get away from it.
AA was aquired by DominionEnterprises in 2006, Dominion’s existing real estate Internet businesses include: Homes.com, a homes-for-sale portal and Web services provider; Best Image Marketing/NUMBER1EXPERT, a provider of Internet marketing services to top-producing real estate agents; Katabat, a leading Web site and lead management provider for brokers; and HarmonHomes.com.
I had thought that perhaps after this trade things might improve at AA for my site but in fact they level of performance has gone down and client satisfaction is at an all time low.
Server issues are ongoing, email routing is horrible, QuickHomes search works when it wants to, the VO at AA has downtime-more often than not, the editor in the VO is junk.
So at the present time my site has been down since about 7:00 AM possibly earlier than that and word is, it will be down till at least tomorrow.
Any outage by a host is almost expected…occasionally, however the issues at AA have been ongoing for months, with the episode previous to this one occuring on or about April 20, 2007, before that one in March and so on ocurring almost monthly.? The current outage which lasted more than 48 hours was unacceptable. We had about 58+ hours of downtime all told. Intolerable.
I am in the process of moving my site to a more secure host, look for the new and improved version-coming soon.
-Edit; Today is Friday the 25, 2007. All AA clients got an email this afternoon from AA about a “Special Announcement” it turns out to be no ore than fluff and pretty much says that we’ll be getting more file storage and more email box’s WOW AA you are so generous! I still am laughing over this one because AA has been talking about this “new” server- the extra storage and email box’s were probably part of it and now they are telling every one that its a bit of “compensation” Read more about AA here.
Here’s more links about the server outage at Advanced Access this week. All these links will open in a new window.
